Snakes Alive!
Over 100 red-bellied black snakes were found in one owner's yard

Snakes and spiders are a part of daily life in Australia thanks to its perfect climate conditions.
The home owners at a Horsley Park property in Sydney's western suburbs had recently noticed, a few snakes disappearing into a pile of mulch in their backyard. After their dog was bitten, they contacted Australian reptile handler, Cory Kerewaro to remove them.
Cory's team ultimately discovered 5 adult and 97 baby red bellied black snakes.
"By the time we got them back home to do a proper count and to check over them and stuff like that, the others gave birth and ended up being 102 in total." he said. All of the collected critters are currently held under quarantine with the intention to release them back to nature as soon as they are strong enough. Australian law directs that snakes are released close to their point of collection, but because of the large number discovered in this case, they will likely be released in an area of national park.
It is interesting to point out that while most reptiles hatch from eggs, red bellied black snakes deliver live young, averaging from 8 to 40 with each litter. While rated as "moderately venomous" bites are relatively rare due to their docile nature and there are no human deaths on record.
They are also one of the more common types of snake kept as pets. The black-snake adapts readily to captivity and lives on a supply of mice, though it doesn’t reject fillets of fish, chicken, or even dog food.
They are often described as one of the world's most beautiful snakes.
